Handling and transportation of casualty
The aim of first aid is to transfer the casualty to the nearby hospital/ shelter
Before shifting check for ABC
Methods
- Human crutch: It is used when the injured person is able to walk with assistance.
- Put your arm around the casualty's waist.
- Grasp his clothes at his hip
- Place his arm around your neck
- Hold his hand with your free arm.
- Pick a back:
Used when the casualty is minor, light, and able to hold an arm. Carry the pt on your back. - Four-handed seat:
- Two bearers face each other, clasping their left wrist with their right hands and right wrist with their left hands. The casualty should place one arm around the neck of each bearer.
- Two-handed seat:
Used when casualty cannot use his hands. - Fore and aft method:
One bearer stands between the legs of the casualty and grasps the casualty under his knees the Second bearer grasps his own wrists passing under the armpits of the casualty.
